Pipeline Pigging Products
Successful cleaning of pipelines depends strongly on the proper pigging product being utilized. Determining factors to select the proper pigging product are:
-
Age and type of pipeline
-
Maximum operating pressure
-
Degree or type of radius bends.
-
Valve system utilized in pipeline.
-
Style of launcher / receivers
-
Pigs previously utilized for routine pigging, cleaning & maintenance
-
Type of product in pipeline
-
Estimated buildup in pipeline
-
Viscosity
-
Velocity
-
Temperatures
Pipeline contents determine the construction material of the pigging products. Harsh contents such as condensate, fuel gas, high concentrations of H2S, CO2, diluents, etc. can damage improper pigging products.
